Quote Business Magazine financial annual report 2023
Quote (Business Magazine), Sept. 9, 2024, by Malou de Bont. Translation by Ineke, edited by John de Jong. The Quote 500 is an annual listing of the richest people in the Netherlands and is compiled by Business Magazine Quote. My God! André Rieu pays himself €37 million in dividends after a fat profit Never before has he raised so many millions as in 2023, according to the brand-new annual report of the Maastricht star violinist. Four years ago, André Rieu (74) was still in financial dispare. During the pandemic, there wasn't a penny to be earned; every stage was closed, his sixty-piece orchestra sat at home in silence. Rieu saw the bottom of his treasury and was so frightened by it that he was even prepared to sell his very scarce and multi-million dollar Stradivarius if necessary. Record turnover for André Rieu However, thank goodness, the Maastricht star violinist still has his expensive violin in his closet, because three years later the figures are beautiful again, according to the brand new annual report of 2023. In total, ex-Quote 500 member André Rieu* achieved a record turnover of more than €63 million with his concerts, of which around €22 million in the Netherlands. For almost the entire month of July Rieu was back on his beloved Maastricht Vrijthof. Another €6.8 million came in through royalties, and all kinds of Rieu items such as teddy bears, key chains, jigsaw puzzles and coffee mugs brought in an additional €700,000. Double digits of dividend for André Rieu After deducting all costs, a wonderful €18.5 million net profit remained. The other reserves now amount to around €49 million, after a profit of €17 million last year. So a dividend could be taken away after those stormy years, André Rieu must have thought. Under the divident item, an amount of €37 million bounces off the pages. Mon Dieu! With these figures, you can buy the most expensive Stradivarius in the world twice (The Messiah, €18 million). That there will be at least a splendid beautiful new violin in Rieu's music cabinet is evident from a note on the current assets: for €900,000 Rieu has obtained an "option right for the purchase of a violin." Ex-Quote 500 member? Can we conclude from this article that he is no longer on the list of the 500 richest Dutch people?
